Together with our partners, we lighten the load and create breathing space through a carefree Moon Moment — a family getaway where connection, resilience, and meaningful time together take centre stage again.
2005
Beyond the Moon was founded on May 18, 2005, with one simple but powerful mission: to give families with a sick child time, peace, and the chance to reconnect.
2020 – 2022
During the pandemic, we brought moments of joy and distraction to children in Belgian hospitals through playful, interactive 3D murals — offering small windows of hope for families in isolation.
2025
On 18 May, we celebrated with our Moon Families and partners. Later that year, we took time to reflect, resulting in a strategic repositioning of Beyond the Moon.
2026 – today
On March 19, 2026, we launched our new identity: a new chapter with a clear vision for sustainable anchoring, stronger partnerships, and lasting impact for Moon Families.
Beyond the Moon is supported by a small, dedicated team that commits itself every day to families with a sick child. In addition, our core volunteers help us with their time, expertise, and engagement to make our mission possible. We believe in the power of genuine attention, collaboration, and impact. Behind every Moon Moment are warm-hearted people making a difference.

Beyond the Moon works with partners in Belgium and across borders to give families with a seriously ill child the space to breathe, wherever they are. Support raised (inter-)nationally is channeled into local action — delivering real, immediate impact for local families where it matters most.
Our annual goal is clear: to provide 52 families
with a carefree Moon Moment. The annual
number of Moon Families supported in each
country depends on the funds raised locally.
For international companies, Beyond the Moon offers one central point of contact in Belgium, with support in three languages. This allows their branches in different countries to work together on a single CSR project and make Moon Moments possible. Today, Beyond the Moon collaborates with international companies and foundations in five countries: Belgium, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Malta, and the Netherlands. As a result, our Moon Families also represent various nationalities.
To intentionally keep our operating costs low, we operate without a central office. Our employees each work from their own home office, ensuring that as many resources as possible go directly toward the moon moments.
