An honour that leaves us speechless...

On Thursday, 5 June 2025, Pascale Somers, our founder and manager, was honoured as a laureate of the Gabriella Moortgat Foundation. This recognition celebrates her years of tireless dedication and the heartfelt commitment with which she – together with a small, driven team – has been supporting families with a seriously ill child for 20 years.

“The phone call from board member Guy De Roovere on 24 January 2025 came as a surprise. I was touched, moved, honoured. And above all, deeply grateful. Those who know me, know I prefer not to put myself in the spotlight. Not seeking attention, but with both feet firmly on the ground – doing what needs to be done, for those who need it.
But this recognition compels me to pause and reflect on what we’ve built. 20 years of commitment… that is something. It makes me realise there is strength in perseverance, in staying true to a mission. And that female strength – fempowerment – deserves to be visible.
Not to place myself on a pedestal, but to show what is possible when you follow your heart and keep going with dedication. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I share this honour in deep connection with everyone who makes this story possible. It is the cherry on top of our 20th birthday cake!”

We are proud, grateful and honoured that this recognition not only celebrates her, but also shines a light on our mission.

A heartfelt thank you to the Gabriella Moortgat Foundation and board members Guy De Roovere, Stefanie De Roovere, Jo Goiris and Olav Blancquaert for this meaningful gesture.

The Foundation, established by the granddaughter of the founder of the Duvel Moortgat Brewery, pays tribute every two years to women who make a meaningful contribution to society. After her passing in 2012, the mission was carried on.
